Cloche Sweeps The Antonian Awards

By: Carolina Roberts

Well, we’ve finally recovered from the holidays and can’t let another day pass without sharing what happened in November at the fourth annual Antonian Awards where Cloche Designs swept the floor! We’re so proud of our Cloche girls and our team of outstanding vendors and venues who made this possible!!!!The Antonian Awards recognize the best of the best event professionals and are produced by the San Antonio chapter of the International Live Events Association (ILEA). Founded over two decades ago in 1987, ILEA is a global community of creative event professionals whose expertise power some of the most respected live events. ILEA involves nearly 7,200 members active in 49 chapters worldwide. Membership brings together professionals from a variety of disciplines including caterers, designers, planners/coordinators, audio-visual technicians, hospitality professionals, and many more. Each year the Antonian Awards banquet has a new theme with this year being “Antonian Airlines.”Events between August 1, 2017 and July 31, 2018 were eligible and 72 San Antonio-based events companies entered the lengthy application process (P.S. the paperwork for just one application takes about a full day to complete) to win. An unbiased panel of judges (who have no way of knowing who submitted an event) traveled this year from near and far, including Detroit and Vancouver, to name a few. This year we applied for four awards and won in ALL four categories!!!! Here’s the scoop on our sweep:

1. “Best Wedding Event” for the wedding we designed and planned last June at the Jack Guenther Pavilion at the Briscoe Western Art Museum on the San Antonio River Walk. Read all about “When Love Gives You Lemons” in our blog here and stay tuned because we’re over-the-moon thrilled that it was selected for print publication in the May issue of The Knot!2. “Best Non-Profit Event Over $75,000” for “Mr. McGregor’s Secret Garden Party” benefiting The Generations Fund at Texas Biomedical Research Institute. Click here for the beautiful deets. Cloche volunteered 100% of our time and talents and we were overjoyed to have raised more than $180,000 for a construction project and its related ribbon cutting celebration, with all remaining funds being donated to Texas Biomedical Research Institute!3. “Best Social Event” for our Rat Pack evening of dinner and dancing on The Argyle lawn last April celebrating the 70th birthday of a very special client. Click here to see how we genuinely infused the evening with all of the birthday boy’s most favorite things.4. “Best Non-Profit Event Under $75,000” raising over $200,000 for Autism Community Network (ACN) last April which was DOUBLE the net profit over any prior year in the luncheon’s history. In addition to planning and design, we worked with the event chairs to make strategic budgetary changes that paid off big time. This was the first time ACN had employed a professional event company and is a testament that relying on professionals is a value-add decision in the end!
Side note: last year, after opening our doors in April 2017, Cloche Designs applied for our very first Antonian Award “Best Social Event” for a hot-air-balloon themed Fourth of July party in Fredericksburg, Texas and WON that one as well! We’d only been in business for three months! Read the super cute blog “Up, Up & Away” all about the winning event here.
We’re SO proud of our Cloche girls and their achievements throughout these first two years. Starting a business takes true grit and winning at the Antonians two years in a row is a great reward for doing what we love and loving what we do! Congratulations Christin and Laura Nell, the best is yet to come!
